LZ0M (RDXC-2012 cape KALIAKRA )

Because of the high noise level in my QTH I was forced to try something different to take part in RDXC-2012 .This is one of my favorite contests and I wanted to give participants an extra pleasure giving them an opportunity to have QSO with cape Kaliakra ,which is an Natural Reserve in Bulgaria and is counted for different Radio Amateur's awards as LZFF-042 and ARLH (BUL-016). The antenna setup was quite simple .It consisted one GP (10M-40M) and second was Inverted Vee (80M-160M) on a small mobile tower 10 m long . I had an transceiver with 100 watts and laptop with N1MM software. Nothing special but it allows me to make 1059 QSO's to 192 different countries and 185 Russian oblasts.
I was on the east part of the peninsula because of the highest number of points that gives Russian stations .
It took me about 2 hours work to put my aerials up and to connect all cables to radio and laptop. After it we have a nice chat with local meteorologist and keeper of the Light House.I show them what is radioamateur world and how we can connect with all parts of the World without using anything different but only our stations.
I was able to sleep about 30 minutes to relax before the contest and at 11:30 UTC I was close to the station to check how is the propagation on HF. Nothing special but the level of the noise on 80m and 160m was just S-3 Units compared to +10dB at my local QTH.
As usual we start contest from highest bands and when the Sun is going to sleep we move to lower bands. From this link you can see a small video of my antennas -they were quite simple and almost everyone can afford them :

I was quite surprised when on 80m at 16:01 UTC we had a QSO with JT5DX .His signals were amazing almost 10 dB over S-9 .Of coarse the main reason to have QSO was because of his setup ,but in my town I would never heard him .So I felt quite well after this QSO and went outside to watch Sunset and breath fresh air.

After 21 hours on air and when N1MM reached 2 501 395 points I felt quite tired ,but satisfied of this small DX expedition on cape Kaliakra. Only person who was on such event can understand me .No noise on LOW Bands ,you can hear almost everything on frequencies and for this is not necessary such a big setup .

I have to THANK NIMH-Varna
and especially Mr.Ivanov for supporting this event and for their Great Hospitality ;Our radioclub LZ2KSB gave me equipment, antennas and Wi-Fi equipment
So if you had a nice time on air contacting cape Kaliakra it was their merit.
Without their support this expedition would never happens .
